Focusing on writing, which takes a large portion of the curatorial practice, the novelist Suah Bae was invited to conduct the seminar with the aim to explore new perspectives outside of the conventional language in the art world. Bae writes and translates her own work, while exploring the possibility of the text as something beyond a symbol which delivers meaning. In her reciting performance, Bae applied visual and aural mechanisms to her novel and translations, sharing the experience of the text expanding beyond its content to becoming a medium through which to stimulate the different senses of the body. The seminar examined Bae’s experiments and attempts to extend beyond the prevalent conventions and mechanisms in literature, and discovered how text can reach the boundaries of other tactile and physical expressions of art.
