Seminar VI - Kyungshin Park

Jun.09.2019

The sixth seminar of DOOSAN Curator Workshop talked about copyright issues related to publication. Of particular note, the seminar examined various situations that may occur in relation to publication, from contracts made with publishers in composing art related text, to the image copyright of publications such as catalogues, painting books and critical writings produced in planning an exhibition. The seminar also examined what areas needed extra caution in order to prevent such situations from happening. Expressions, specified items and major laws and regulations were observed in detail based on standard contracts used in the publishing field, and were applied through case studies. Among them, the main contents and differences in publishing rights contract, publishing permission contract, copyright transfer contract, sales contract, and outsourcing contract were examined. The workshop dealt with issues of registration and protection of copyright and publishing right, and offered an informative opportunity for the participants to explore contents that are vital for curators to understand and apply in their practical work.
