DOOSAN Curator Workshop

Artist IncubatingDOOSAN Curator Workshop

Seminar V - Kyungshin Park

Jun.08.2019

The participants were then instructed to compose contracts that suit their own needs, examining the contents and expressions of the contracts based on 11 standard contracts proposed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Through this process, what were observed were legal contracts and their efficacy, centering on terminology and expressions centered on precedent examples. In particular, standard contract forms in the art field, exhibition contract between artist and art museum, the exhibition planning contract and rental agreements between independent curators and the art museum were examined thoroughly.

The seminar looked at the various cases of problems in laws regarding artist welfare or artist fee, and the clauses that played a major role in such rulings. Through such observation, the participants had the opportunity to identify the implications in the clauses that are often overlooked. In addition, practical problems in exhibition planning, which have recently emerged as major issues in relation to exhibitions, such as distribution platforms, archiving, and performance rights, were also highlighted in the workshop.
