I had a nice day is a story based on the diaries of Manju Yu, a scholar of the late Joseon dynasty, which was left behind by chance to futurity. A bookworm who dreams of becoming a historian, Manju Yu is always busy. He knows there is no time to lose if he wants to pass the state examinations to become an official, but the world is full of too many interesting things. Manju dreams of the impossible, yet still wishes to love life—and so he writes a diary. This work allows us to take a peek at Manju Yu’s silly but touching diary, and to ponder how to live out the days that are given to us today.
‘Me and You and Everyone’ is a creative collective spearheaded by writer and designer Yeseul Park, pansori performer Yi-ho Ahn, and composer Hanna Cho. The collective showcases works in which ‘my’ story becomes ‘yours,’ and thus becomes ‘ours.’ It aims to close the gap between the genre of the musical and Korean traditional music, and seeks out work oriented toward ‘that new something.’
