Although the matter of one’s taste is a highly private area, dining lies in a more public domain as an economic and political activity that requires adherence to a certain set of etiquette and rules. This examination into the activity of “dining” that involves a complex mix of reasons behind the event provides a peek at how human desires work amidst the context of food and eating. The Way of Eating is a performance that examines how the event of “dining” one prepares for oneself or others comes to occur. The performance is comprised of projects undertaken individually by Andeath, Yoon Hansol, Lee Rayoung, and Cho Munki, as well as a joint project by the four. In each individual project, the creators share their personal tastes alongside their thoughts on politics and economy. The joint project examines the behavior of eating in a more public context.
