TRIGGER retells Korea’s modern history through the perspective of an unlikely narrator: a worn rifle. 
This rifle witnessed turbulent times, yet was repeatedly forgotten by the torrent of history and erased from the narrative. 
The play explores two main axes: One is the tragic narrative of modern history embodied by the Type 99 Arisaka Rifle, Ppang-ya. 
The other is the dilemma of a drama writer, Nana, who attempts to forge a new story using the rifle and its submerged history.
The play does not stop at illuminating the past. Through Nana’s journey, TRIGGER dramatizes her confrontation with-and compromise to-the unavoidable realities of capitalist survival in modern society, as she attempts to write the rifle’s story into a successful ‘hit drama.’ Thereby, the play poses a profound question for a time that consumes’ history.
Since its premiere in 2023, TRIGGER has garnered significant attention, winning The 61st Korea Theater Festival Grand Prize (2023), selected as The Best 7 Play of 2023, chosen by The Korean Theatre Review, and No. 1 Bestseller in YES24’s Original Theater Play category (2024).
