Kamome is anew work jointly directed by Seong Gi-woong, a playwright supported by Doosan’sArtists Incubator Program, and Tada Junnosuke of Japan. It is an adaptation of Chekhov’sThe Seagull, set in the era ofJapanese colonial rule in Korea. Dialogue is in both Korean and Japanese. Inthe original play, Konstantin Treplyov, son of aging actress Irina Arkadina, isa symbolist playwright. He has lost his identity under the influence of amaterialistic mother, and appears to be in a radical pursuit of the spiritual.
