Doosan Art LAB 2019 is a part of the Doosan Art LAB project, which has been organized at Doosan Art Center since 2010. Launched in 2013, the biennial exhibition series is devoted to discovering and supporting new promising artists under the age 40. The exhibition this year is divided into Part I and Part II, with Doosan Art LAB 2019: Part I running from Jul 3 to Aug 3 and Doosan Art LAB 2019: Part II held from Aug 21 – Sept 28, 2019.

Part I featured works by artists working in painting and sculpture mediums, while artists working in the video medium have been selected to show in Part II. Doosan Art LAB 2019: Part II presents video works by KiSeok Kang, Sunho Park, JungKyun Shin, and EunHee Lee.

KiSeok Kang expresses his own concerns and hopelessness as an artist through the presence of others, or shows them metaphorically through his repeated actions that border the performative. Sunho Park collects personal narratives or other images related to them, retracing the process images are generated or process through which the meaning of an image is reproduced. JungKyun Shin brings to present things that are neglected or forgotten because they cannot fulfill their original function. He then juxtaposes them with everyday life, creating new ruptures. EunHee Lee’s video works continuously question the meaning and medium of images, and experiment with their limits and expandability.
