Set in 2026, Practicing Circus in Korea is a part-ary, part-lecture performance featuring three working artists from the Korean contemporary circus scene. They present their daily routines on stage, highlighting their skill training that entails body modification. The performance goes beyond a mere introduction to circus skills and training, investigating the performative value of physical arts, revealing the artists’ labor-intensive lives.
CONTCONN
CONTCONN is a contemporary circus-centered theater company, led by artistic director KIM JOONBONG. The company is dedicated to exploring the Contact and Connection points between wide-ranging subjects: ideas, genre, personality, theme, and the body. The company integrates and explores various forms of performing arts—immersive performance, lecture performance, theater play, and musical theater—as an investigation of “blurring boundaries”.
