Play M. Butterfly is a masterpiece of Chinese-American play writer David Henry Hwang. The play bases it's motif on the real story of French diplomat Bernard Boursicot who faced a court trial in 1986 on the charge of divulging national secrets. Set in Beijing, China, the play portrays the love between the French consulate employee Rene and Chinese actress Song, followed by the destruction of personal trust caused by political circumstances. The play is directed by Kim Kwangbo, who received the award for Best Director at the 2014 Dong-A Theater Award.
