“If I called Mom for a video chat, would she pick up the phone?” Face Time begins from a vague notion of calling someone that one can no longer meet. Curious about whether a connection with an unreachable person could change her life, Seryeon remembers her mother who communicated her hopes and dreams through puppetry. Face Time reexamines how we perceive “connection” in an age when all it takes is one phone call to connect to someone on the other side of the planet. It also questions, through memories of one’s mother, the subject of hope in this day and age.
I Am Here is a creative collective comprising director Seryeon Park, actors Daejin Jeong and Jinkyung Lee, and scenographer Jiwoo Kim. Based on the motto that “Everything happens here” and “What happens here, also happens there,” they jointly create projects that are performed inside and outside the theater. Their stories unfold not only onstage, but inside someone’s house, in an alleyway, and elsewhere. They focus on the story of “I am here” since every personal story is also a history that awaits us in the future.
