DOOSAN Gallery Seoul is pleased to host its biennial exhibition Doosan Art Lab 2017 from July 19th to August 19th, 2017. Hyeree Ro, Hyunseon Son, Jeongsu Woo, Youngzoo IM, and Hyejin Jo will participate in this exhibition and present various works of painting, installation, video and performance.

Organized by Doosan Art Center since 2010, 'Doosan Art Lab' is a program which supports young artists under 40 years of age to experiment in various forms of art. The program presents their work in multiple forms such as showcases, reading sessions, and workshops. Since 2013, it has begun to discover and support young promising artists by exhibiting their work at the DOOSAN Gallery every other year. The 'Doosan Art Lab' exhibition is meaningful in that it focuses on the future direction of the selected artists and aspires to continue their support. Among the artists who participated in the exhibition in 2015, Yoon Hwan Bae's solo exhibition HABITAT was held at DOOSAN Gallery Seoul in March 2017, and Seulki Ki's solo exhibition will be shown at the DOOSAN Gallery Seoul from August 30th to September 27th, 2017.

The five artists presented in Doosan Art Lab 2017 explore and experiment with their oeuvre in depth through various media. Hyeree Ro delivers autobiographical narratives through one-person performances which respond to objects she makes, and Hyunseon Son makes intense observations on everyday objects with movements and rhythms that differ from her own. While Jeongsu Woo's satirical drawings and large paintings capture the anxiety, chaos and absurdities inherent in the society, Youngzoo IM experiments with the idea of the structure of beliefs innate in human through various media such as painting, video, and installations based on her research. Lastly, Hyejin Jo's sculptural and installation works discover the aesthetic formation qualities she observes in everyday objects, and investigate the significance of their socially-generated background, history, and relationships with human.
